Aloha ~
I have written frequently about the collapse of America. We have become a nation of losers rather than winners.

David made an excellent point: Part of the blame goes to the Legislature, where Democrats with a super-majority were determined that the first Republican governor in 40 years not be perceived as successful for fear that they wouldn't see another Democratic governor for 40 years.

At the national level we witness the opposite. Due to the election of a popular Democratic leader, Republicans rely on a super-majority blocker in the name of the filibuster to obstruct this president for fear they may not see another Republican president for 40 years.

This process occurs across the country - by the Right as well as the Left. Ours today is a system of gotcha politics where we thrive in negativity and do our best to prevent the success of the other guy/gal or party.

And, guess what? It's working. We've created a Prison of Negativity in America. The winners? Nations like China.

The losers - the American people.

And this is why a skinny African-American in 2004 caught the imagination of the country. We aren't a collection of red states and blue states. We are the United States.

This is what all of us truly want in our hearts. Yet fear - fear of losing power, losing one's job in politics - locks us into a losing formula.

Regardless whether one sits on the Right or Left a nation must stand together if it wishes to prosper.

Or else the Final Curtain Call will be for all of us.
