Aloha ~
I hope local Democrats had a blast waving signs ... this is the most they have done to help this embattled young president to date. Democrats are great at complaining and pointing out weaknesses - particularly in their own ranks. One can't count on them to stand by your side when the going is tough though.

In the 2008 campaign Uncle Barack promised that if elected he would begin to draw down our commitment in Iraq. He honored this promise and the extraction has begun.

In the 2008 campaign Uncle Barack promised that if elected he would increase our national focus on Afghanistan. He honored this promise and we have beefed up efforts in the region. Spring 2010 will be some battle.

In the 2008 campaign Uncle Barack promised that if elected he would change the tone in both U.S. and world politics. He honored this promise. The world thanks us ... Republicans in the U.S. displayed their true colors and continue their efforts to harm the American public.

In the 2008 campaign Uncle Barack promised that if elected he would stabilize our collapsed economy and begin the road to recovery. He honored this promise although the road remains bumpy. We see optimistic signs at this time.

In the 2008 campaign Uncle Barack promised that if elected he would set a goal of reforming health care in the U.S. during his first year in office. Both houses of Congress have passed bills and we await a final version of this historic legislation.

No other American president has faced such complex challenges at the same time. Remember when polls suggested Americans believed he had put too many issues on his plate? And from Teddy Roosevelt forward no president has been able to pass health care reform. Transformational leader!

President Obama, you and your family have been a tremendous inspiration to hundreds of millions worldwide. Mahalo for your leadership in this incredibly difficult first year. Keep up the good work and look forward to serving with you in 2010.

A*L*O*H*A
